I am Lorne Ashley, my work goes by Echo Era Audio. I’m a musician, producer and audio engineer.  And I help musicians make great shit.

my story

I thrive in the big ideas, the collaboration, and testing limits to find what hasn’t been done yet...

I never thought of music or performance as a commodity, nor did I ever think twice about dedicating my entire lifestyle and career path to the art of expression. Art is a selfish endeavour at its core, and yet the weight of the vulnerability behind choosing to pursue it nullifies that selfishness. Leaving behind the breadcrumbs of history that tell our story as a species. There is nothing like art.

I found the ability to communicate through music. Lyrics, poetry, harmony and melody. There’s no more powerful combination in the world. The first time I put a guitar around my neck, I could not contain my excitement at how loud, how soft, how aggressive, how delicate, how tough it was - I was hooked.

And as I entered my teens, the attention that performances garnered was addictive. Feeding a teenage ego is as palpable as it is life-affirming. I never had the guts to talk to the girls I liked, and now they were coming up to me. Haha. It certainly helped me stick with it.

I made my first band at 11 with my brother and my best friend, and by the time I was 15 we had recorded our first EP, pretty much on our own. We burned the CDs, pritt-stick’d the artwork on it, and sold it to our friends for pennies for new guitar strings!

I do what I do because I believe art is the most important adventure. There are millions of us contributing to the ledger, but truly, it should only matter to the creator. Collaboration is a trick that humans are particularly well suited for, and music is an amazing vehicle to prove it. It’s where I thrive; in the collaboration, the big dreaming, the testing the limits.

Today I work with brand-new to established bands and artists from all genres. I work with explorative creatives who want to get the most out of what they do. So get in touch and let’s see what magic we can create!
